The good: Fast processor; high-quality peripherals; small footprint.
The bad: Limited performance and upgrade path.
The bottom line: Gateway's Essential 933 is a reasonably priced, basic PC for business applications, e-mail, and the Internet.
If all you need is the PC equivalent of a Ford Fiesta, why buy a Lincoln? Gateway's Essential 933 is an affordable, basic system that's well equipped for everyday computing. Those who crave multimedia perks, however, should look to a more robust and expandable machine.
" An expensive 386SX in sheep’s clothing"
If you seek a small footprint system and performance isn't important, then maybe you might like this system. The system is unusually slow, the fan and hardd rive motors are loud. I'd consider an AMD Athlon or Duron before I'd give this consideration. Fact is, it is overpriced for what you are receiving.
" very good unit for the home and small business."
For the price i couldn't find anything as powerful. It has plenty of speed for anyone who runs a small business or for the casual surfer. why spend another 1000 dollars for bells and whistles you don't need.
